Once upon a time, there was a war between two kings near a jungle. In this war, one emerged victorious while the other faced defeat. A day after the war, a strong wind blew, causing a drum, which had been played during the battle, to roll into the jungle. It came to rest near a tree, and whenever the strong wind blew and the tree branches hit the drum, a rhythmic sound echoed: “Dhamadham-Dhamadham.”
In that jungle, a fox was wandering in search of food, and suddenly, it spotted a rabbit eating carrots. The fox cautiously approached, intending to make it their prey. When the fox made a sudden pounce to catch the rabbit, the rabbit managed to escape by getting its carrot stuck in the fox’s mouth. Somehow,
the fox removed the carrot from its mouth and continued forward, but it heard the rhythmic sound of the drum. Startled, the fox began to wonder, as it had never heard such a sound from any animal before.
Trying to understand where the sound was coming from, the fox went towards it, attempting to discern if it was a flying or walking creature.
As the fox approached the drum, and jumped to attack it, the rhythmic sound of “Dham” was heard. Startled by the sound, the fox leaped backward, hiding behind the tree to observe. After a few minutes without any reaction, the fox, puzzled, jumped again at the drum. This time, as the “Dham” sound echoed, the fox jumped back but turned around to see. Not finding any movement around the drum, the fox assumed there was no living creature.
Approaching the drum, the fox attacked it, and as the “Dham” sound started, the fox leaped away. However, this time, the fox noticed that the sound did not follow. Curious, the fox approached again and observed that the drum showed no signs of life. Realizing it wasn’t an animal, the fox confidently jumped onto the drum, and to its surprise, the drum began to make rhythmic sounds as it bounced and rolled.
Delighted by this discovery, the fox played with the drum, creating a variety of beats. The drum, now vibrating and resonating, eventually burst open. To the fox’s delight, various delicious foods spilled out of the drum, satiating its hunger.
Moral of the Story:
The story of the fox and the drum teaches us that everything has a designated time. What we need comes to us at the right moment.
