Years ago, in a clock tower, there lived a sparrow named Tinku with her parents and five siblings. Tinku was small with soft wings, and her mother had taught her to chirp on the clock tower.
Near the clock tower, there was a house where a woman who loved birds lived. She used to put out bread crumbs every day for Tinku and her family.
One day, the woman fell ill and passed away. Tinku and her entire family depended on her for food. Now, they had nothing to eat, and they did not make any effort to find food for themselves.
One day, when they were starving, Tinku’s father decided to hunt for worms. After much effort, he managed to find three worms, which were not sufficient for the family of eight. As a result, he decided to keep Tinku and her two younger brothers aside and fed them the worms.
Meanwhile, desperate for food, Tinku, her brothers, and their mother pecked at a house’s window, hoping to find something. However, they found nothing, and the owner of the house threw dust on them, turning them all brown.
On the other hand, Tinku’s father found a place with plenty of worms after searching for some time. He had arranged enough food for several days. Happily returning home, he found no one there. He became worried.
At the same time, Tinku, her brothers, and mother returned home disappointed. In anger, the father chased them away, not recognizing them. Tinku tried to explain, but her attempts were unsuccessful.
Tinku’s mother and brothers were disheartened, but Tinku did not give up. Taking them to the pond, she bathed them, removing the dust. In their original colors, they returned to the clock tower.
Now, Tinku’s father recognized them and apologized. Tinku explained how someone had thrown dust on them, but her father was initially unconvinced.
Undeterred, Tinku took them to the pond and washed off the dust. As they returned to their original colors, her father recognized them and apologized. From then on, they lived happily together. They had enough food and were no longer dependent on others.
Moral of the story: One should never be entirely dependent on someone else. Humans should work hard to gather things they need instead of relying on others entirely.
